What is Happening in the World?

*Not everyone is going to agree with this post...that's ok...but this is something that is driving me crazy and the only way I can let out my opinion is through writing it on my blog.
I'm really struggling with the parental views on holidays and make believe. Perhaps you have heard things like, Why celebrate Halloween? It's such a dumb holiday and all the kids get out of it candy I don't want them eating. Why do we believe in the tooth fairy, come on, money for a tooth? Do I really have to pretend there is a Santa Claus? Why can't I just tell them the truth so I don't have to be sneaky? The Easter bunny is such a dumb concept...he has nothing to do with Easter or Christ, I don't want to have to worry about baskets every year...UGH I can't stand hearing these things...Don't be such a holiday BAH HUMBUG...it's such a selfish thing for a parent to ruin the magic of ANY holiday. Why can't we just let kids be kids? Let them dress up on Halloween, go trick or treating and yes...EAT the candy they got...why exchange it for a "bigger" present or throw it all away after 24 hours...just let them eat it. Chances are they didn't get THAT much and it will be gone after a few days anyways. And Santa Claus...really? Do you wanna go there? He is the symbol of giving...no he's not the reason we celebrate Christmas...but he is a part of the magic in the season. Haven't these people ever seen their kids faces when they open that ONE really desired gift from Santa? Well..it's pure happiness. And yes, they would be just as happy to get it from mom and dad...but really it's not as magical...honestly, it's not as special. I believed in Santa Claus for longer than I care to admit but I still carry with me the love and joy he brought into my life...it's fun to believe...it makes the season so much merrier and bright...it makes it full of anticipation and excitment.

Really what it boils down to FOR ME...the sooner you take the magic away from children the sooner they grow up. They are only this little once...the outside world is making them grow up faster than we already want. Why not stop. Enjoy this time. Enjoy making magic and memories so that when they do grow up they still want to enjoy the magic holidays bring...when they are older they will remember what a magical time it was for them and continue on with their children...isn't this how traditions are made? Aren't traditions magical? Yep. They sure are.

As for the Michel family, "We believe"
