Last night we had the chance to listen to church authorities speak on prop 8! It was a great and motivated me to do more!!
8 Years ago the people of California voted for marriage to be between a man and a women...since then the supreme court has over ruled the people and is in the process of redefining "marriage". We have the opportunity to re-establish what we've already decided as a state if we vote YES on Prop 8!
If we vote no and it does not pass it will affect us all personally as well as our future children. How?? You might ask...Here are a few reasons that this will affect our Future!
1. Church Taxation rights-All different religions that refuse to comply to marry same sex couples could and possibly will be denied their tax exemption. As a result churches will have to start paying to practice religion THUS this impedes with our rights of freedom of religion and beliefs.
2. Church adoption Agencies-Many religions around the United States have set up adoption agencies in hopes to find children a home. If this doesn't pass churches could be forced to give children to same sex couples on which they don't comply with. As a result again they are being denied their rights to religion and belief. (Catholic Adoption agency in Massachusetts already shut down due to conflict of same sex marriage law and religious beliefs).
**if you are not religious you are probably asking...what does this have to do with me?? There is one more huge issue at hand...an issue that helped me see things in a brighter light.
3. Schools all around the state might be forced to teach same sex marriage as a part of their curriculum and as a normal part of society. At what age?? Well kindergarten! Health teachers will not only teach sex education between a man and a woman but between same sex couples as well. Do you want your child learning same sex intercourse?? I have always felt that teaching sex education as of a man and woman was always awkward...can you imagine what you will have to teach your children as a result of what is being taught in schools??
You also might be asking yourself...well what about gay rights?? Well I want everyone to be aware of the fact that gay couples have all the same rights in California that men and women who are married have and voting yes will not take away these rights...this proposition is only to DEFINE marriage between man and woman.
I have a deep and profound belief in the family and the constitution of marriage. I also want everyone to know that I have a huge respect for homosexuality. I have both family and friends who have chosen this way of life. When it comes down to what I feel marriage is...it IS defined between a man and a woman. I WILL be voting YES on Prop 8 and I highly encourage you to do the same. If you want or need more info on prop 8 feel free to visit www.protectmarriage.com this website has so much info and video feeds that can help you see my point of view.
PLEASE take the FUTURE of Prop 8 seriously and continue to search it out in your mind and heart. Study the issue at hand and make the best choice for you and your future families.
Whatever you feel or decide no hard feelings! I know this is such a personal decision but I felt as if this proposition was being ignored and misunderstood!!
