South Carolina Part 2...Saturday

Saturday was a very exciting and crazy day. The weather looked like it had cleared up (it was very stormy the day before...never seen soo much rain in my whole life). We woke up excited to go out on the jet ski. Michael's family takes the jet ski out to this little island called Drum Island to look for shark's teeth. The island is only about 3-5 minutes away from the dock...if you are going full speed on the jet ski...but due to my pregnant "condition" and Michael's parents' health we had to take it easy. David took Michael and I out to the Island first then went back to pick up his parents. Once we were all on the island we starting our "hunt" Michael found a ton...I found 6...in an hour! Let's just say I am still a rookie...a very new rookie!! Larry (Michael's dad) told us he was going to have David take him and Mary Lois back to the dock and then David would come back for us. He told us he didn't want Mary Lois to get warn out. We all walked back to the jet ski and as we were doing so I turned around and looked towards the dock and the BIGGEST DARKEST thunder clouds were rolling in. It was really scary. They were moving so fast and over in the distance you could see that there was no divide between land and sky...which means it was POURING!! The weather went from this on one side of the island to this....
While David was taking his parents back some serious nerves and anxiety were racking my brain. Not 3 minutes later thunder started up and lighting was in the distance...but moving our way...FAST. Michael was trying to keep me distracted by making me look for shark's teeth. But I felt really unsettled and worried...and on top of that David was taking FOREVER to get back and the storm kept getting closer and closer. What usually takes about 5 minutes took him 10. Once I started to tear up he finally came whipping around the corner. He apologized for taking so long but he had to go really slow with Michael's parents because the water was getting really rough. He also said that Larry wanted Michael to drive me back while he waited on the Island and then after I was safe Michael would go back for him. I was so unsettled and worried about the storm. Something inside me was telling me to get off the water. I told David he was being stupid...it's a 3 person jet ski...I don't mind if he had to sit with me...he was coming with me and there was no arguing! He complied but told me that if Larry got upset I would have to take the blame...OF COURSE I WOULD! The sky was only getting darker...thunder LOUDER and lightning and rain Closer. We all got on the jet ski and headed back. The water was seriously choppy and although Michael was taking it as slow as he could while trying to hurry the jet ski was still all over the place. We finally got back to the dock...the boys picked me up and threw me off the jet ski and then I heard someone yelling my name. It was Michael's mom. She was screaming at me and pointing at me. She was saying something like WATER SPOUT!! I had NO idea what a water spout was so I was curious as to what she was pointing to. I turned around at saw a tornado over the water...right outside the dock where we just were. She grabbed me and kept yelling at me to get in the car...I couldn't keep my eyes off the tornado...I had never seen one before and because it was just forming no one knew the unpredictable course it would take. She kept apologizing for keeping me unsafe and opened the door and threw me in the car. I was shaking and nervous but by the time I got to the car the tornado had chosen to go the opposite way towards Drum Island. The men were hurrying to get the jet ski hooked up to the car...everyone except Michael who was too busy taking pictures of the water spout. (These picutres don't even do it justice...it doesn't even look as big as it did in person and the fact that it started up when we were at the Bottom of the dock was even scarier). It finally hit the Island we were just on and then disappeared. We were all a little shocked about how fast the storm whipped up and how close we were to being in serious danger. We also were very thankful that something was prompting me to get off the island and to bring David with us. If we hadn't he would have been on the Island and Michael would have been on the water going back for him. We are really thankful for small tender mercies and blessings from our Heavenly Father.
Our teeth...Most are Michael's!!
Since it was Mary Lois' birthday we went out for a special Dinner. A fun Japanese restaurant! Thanks Larry and Mary Lois...it was delicious!
