Leave it to Us!

This week has been really crazy! Lets just start off by saying...we are one family full of medical mysteries/problems!! Wednesday night Michael was up all night with a horrible stomach ache...and since he was tossing and turning...so was I! Finally at 4am he told me that he needed some Tylenol. I got him a small glass of water with two extra strength rapid release Tylenol and tried to go back to sleep...fat chance! The poor guy was in soo much pain, I was helpless. I got up for work around 6:15am and told him that if he was still in horrible pain by 7:20 he needed to drive himself to the walk-in clinic and I would meet him there around 8. Well turns out we ended up at the doctors =(. The doctor took one look at Michael and pushed on one particular spot on his stomach and confirmed my suspicion of...APPENDICITIS!! We then went to get a CT scan. From there they tortured Michael just to get a good look at his appendix...the torture paid off...it was confirmed! Yes he had it and yes he would have to go get emergency surgery at Mission Hospital. We were on our way. We waited in the ER for about an hour before being admitted...finally we met with a nurse and some doctors. The doctor told us he had a few more surgeries to tend to before Michael so the soonest he would get us in would be around 3:30 or 4 (at this time it was 12:30). My brother Curt came and gave Michael a wonderful and comforting blessing. (Thanks Curt)!! It was smooth sailing from there...but a LOT of waiting!! They took Michael into Pre-Op at 2:15 and there we sat until 3:30...finally he was on his way. I waited in the waiting room for an hour and then the doctor came out and told me everything went fine...nothing had ruptured and he only had to make three small incisions for the poles to do the surgery =). Michael had been in recovery for an hour and I had to again wait outside. Finally I got to go see him and he was really out of it and in pain. The nurse gave him pain meds and he dozed right off...I on the other had nothing to do but wait for him to wake up. Luckily Curt and Kim had brought over my Dad's portable DVD player so I watched a movie and waited for Michael to wake up. When he did...he told me to go home and get some sleep...so I did =). I never realized how emotionally draining the hospital can be! I came back the next morning and found him sitting up and able to walk around on his own =) We then waited all morning to see the doctor so he could discharge us. We kept ourselves busy with cards and board games! What an experience and adventure! (One I hope to not repeat...but a little exciting). We finally were able to get checked out around 1pm and made a few stops on our way home. Once we got home...needless to say we both crashed!!! Curt and Grant then came over to do a quick and fun visit! He brought some yummy milk shakes for Michael to eat! We love you Curt! Thanks to all of you for all your love, support and prayers! We know that Heavenly Father was watching over us and was helping us get through the day!!

Good thing he got to the hospital quick. Funny that he had his appendix the same day Melissa had her baby, in the same place too. I am glad everything is ok!
